Sayanora, Fairy-type!

Biggest change for Pokémon has been announced in January 9th, 2020, and it is not the new DLC. It is the fact that alongside Poison-type being integrated into Darkness, Fairy-type will cease to be in TCG and become integrated to Psychic-type.

This is a gigantic change to the franchise, as this confirms Fairy-type has failed to differentiate itself from other types, but it also confirms that DLC additions throughout the generations will be standard. Since each modern TCG expansion in the west contain around 185 Pokémon, this means there can be only 2220 monster cards per generation (185* 12 sets). For 890 Pokémon and around 200 forms this might not seem much, but with introduction new DLC, the amount of new Pokémon introduced per gen will likely re-increase to around 130-150 range, making the current situation unsustainable, unless dual-types become a metagame staple and not just a gimmick.

This also means there won't any other type that will get the same treatment as Dragon-type in Gen 9, but there will likely be another type reshuffling. Either Dragon and Steel being removed, or Rock and Ground becoming part of Metal.

Removal of Fairy-type from the TCG also means there will no longer be major Fairy-type Legendaries and Mythicals, as TCG will not be able to sell their cards as unique things.Any possible new Fairy-type Legendary and Mythical will now have to avoid Psychic and Ghost-types as part of their type combinations.

In that same vein, there likely no longer major Fairy-type introductions in subsequent generations. As Fairy-type is still lacking three unused type combos, this is a serious issue. This was already the case in Generation 8, as the absolute numbers of Fairy-types introduced in Gen 8 were considerably lower than Gen 7, even though bulk of them were fully-evolved Pokémon or Legendaries in the case of Zacian. This too will mostly end, with further emphasis put on Ice-types as the Dragon-busters in the video games.

For the new types in Generation 10:

This change also has for the new types in Gen 10. While they will still obviously come to be (as the amount of unused type combos are shrinking and may shrink further with the new DLC), instead of diversifying the lore of the franchise, the new types introduced will be derivatives of older existing types, and if Dragon and Metal remain until Gen 10, they will be showcased with the existing TCG types.

In this case, the long theorized Light and Sound-types are far more likely to occur, as Fairy-type failed to be the antithesis of Dark-type, with Sound-type likely being introduced to nerf Steel-types. If Dragon and Metal are still around, Light will likely be part of Lightning and Sound will likely be part of Colorless. If they are not, then they will be showcased with their own types and then reintegrated into other types two gens later.

How things will go will depend what TCG type changes will or won't occur next generation

Aloha, Expansion Pass!

As of January 9th 2020, paid DLCs are now a thing in Pocket Monsters. Hallelujah!

I'm geniunely hyped for this, because alongside my associate Bolt the Cat from Serebiiforums, I've been waiting for DLC packs to replace the traditional third versions since Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon. Even though I know he and frankly I would too prefer a direct sequel instead, it was obvious GameFreak is unwilling to show that much effort. We also know DLCs were ultimately going to be introduced in Pokémon since Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon's director Kazumaso Iwao's statement regarding DLCs.

So, we need to establish a few ground rules here:
*This is likely going to the only Expansion Pass. BotW only had one Expansion Pass with VR compatibility being a free update, and Star Allies' had three waves of free DLC that only lasted a year. Nintendo does not like expanding the lifecycle of the game beyond that.

*Even though all 490 remaining Pokémon will likely be transferrable, they are unlikely going to be all catchable, besides Mythicals you won't be able to catch besides events. There will be a few missing transfer-only Pokémon, which should give us an idea about what will be the next games.

*It is extremely unlikely that this will be the only Gen 8 game, and it is rather unlikely it will be the only non-Let's GO mainline game.

*We know that Switch Pro is coming mid-2020, most likely around September-November 2020, which would tie in with Crown Tundra, BUT there is generally a new game shortly after or before a physical console release. Unless Switch Pro releases in Summer, which is unlikely as the Japanese fiscal year starts in April 2020, there should be a new physical game before April 2021.

*Mystery Dungeon remakes will utilize Mega Evolution, and since Kalos is coming later this year in Pokémon GO, it is probably safe to assume Megas will be coming for Pokémon GO as well, meaning the next game and/or next generation will have to reintroduce them. Since base Switch cannot render them alongside Gigantamax and Dynamax Pokémon, next games will likely be Switch Pro exclusive, like how Crystal was Color exclusive, whereas Gold and Silver were available in Game Boy.

With these ground rules established, there are few routes the cookie can crumble:

Scenario I: (most likely scenario, nightmarish)
2020: Expansion Pass
December 2020-March 2021: DPPt remakes (Pro exclusive)
March-June 2021: DPPt remake DLC
November 2021: Let's GO Crystal (Pro exclusive)

Scenario II: (unrealistic, but likely according to current standards)
2020: Expansion Pass
January-June 2021: Expansion Pass 2
November 2021: Let's GO Crystal (Pro exclusive)

Scenario III: (realistic, but unlikely according to current standards)
2020: Expansion Pass
September 2021: DPPt Remakes (Pro exclusive)
January-June 2021: DPPt Remake DLC
November 2022: Gen 9 (Pro exclusive)

Scenario IV: (extremely unlikely)
2020: Expansion Pass
January-June 2021: Expansion Pass 2
November 2021: Gen 9 (Pro exclusive)

Regardless how things go, Gen 9 will be more than likely Pro exclusive.

Stuff regarding how Gen 9 will be discussed after DLC is fully released and datamined

For Gen 9's third legendary

Looking the legendary duos, trios and quartets:
  1. Gen I: Ice/Electric/Fire, Psychic
  2. Gen II: Fire/Electric/Water, Fire/Psychic
  3. Gen III: Rock/Ice/Steel, Ground/Water/Flying
  4. Gen IV: Dark/Psychic, Steel/Water/Ghost,
  5. Gen V: Flying/Electric/Ground, Rock/Grass/Steel/Water, Electric/Fire/Ice
  6. Gen VI: Dark/Fairy/Ground
  7. Gen VII: Electric/Grass/Psychic/Water, Steel/Ghost/Dragon
  8. Gen VIII: Fairy/Fighting/Poison
Using the current corresponding TCG types:
  1. Gen I: Water/Electric/Fire, Psychic
  2. Gen II: Fire/Electric/WaterFire/Psychic
  3. Gen III: Fighting/Water/Steel, Fighting/Water/Normal
  4. Gen IV: Dark/Psychic, Psychic, Steel/Water/Psychic
  5. Gen V: Normal/Electric/Fighting, Fighting/Grass/Steel/Water, Electric/Fire/Water
  6. Gen VI: Dark/Fairy/Fighting
  7. Gen VII: Electric/Grass/Psychic/Water, Steel/Psychic/Dragon
  8. Gen VIII: Fairy/Fighting/Dark
Shared types:
  1. Gen I: Flying
  2. Gen II: Flying
  3. Gen III: N/A (Fire*/None/Dragon)
  4. Gen IV: Psychic, Dragon
  5. Gen V: Flying, Fighting, Dragon
  6. Gen VI: N/A(Flying/None/Dragon)
  7. Gen VII: Fairy, Psychic
  8. Gen VIII: N/A?(Steel**/Steel**/Dragon)
*Primal Reversion only.
**Alternate form only.

Looking at this chart, it seems next generation's third legendary will be Fairy/Dragon or will belong to one of the elemental types besides Water. We are also ignoring the possibility of a mono Dragon outside of another type change gimmick.
**It cannot be Rock or Fighting since Zygarde covers both in TCG.
**It cannot be Dark since Eternatus covers it in TCG as Poison is changed to Darkness in TCG this gen.
**It cannot be Normal since Rayquaza covers it in TCG.
**It cannot be Water since Kyurem covers it in TCG.
**It cannot be Psychic, since both Giratina and Ultra Necrozma cover it in TCG.
**It can be Electric, Fire or Steel, but those are done for non-third legendary mascot legendaries.
**It can be Grass, I just don't expect it because of obvious reasons(even though Grass/Dragon would make sense in a Chinese region).

What happens after that is ambiguous. Since next generation will likely bring one of the existing types to TCG like what happened to Dragon in Gen V, and the next third legendary in Gen 10 will depend on that. If it is Ghost or Bug, then we will likely move onto to regular Dark and Fighting, as those are covered by existing Dragon pseudos(similar to what happened to Zygarde). If it is Flying, Ice or Rock/Ground, then the remainder type (Normal/Water/Fighting) will likely be the candidate.

Edit (10.10.2020):
https://www.pokebeach.com/2020/01/nine-surprising-changes-announced-for-the-ptcg-fairy-pokemon-dropped
Fairy-type is now integrated into Psychic-type and ceases to be its own thing.
Edit (12.01.2020): Since Fairy-type is now integrated into Psychic-type, the updated chart looks like this:
Using the current corresponding TCG types:

  1. Gen I: Water/Electric/Fire, Psychic
  2. Gen II: Fire/Electric/WaterFire/Psychic
  3. Gen III: Fighting/Water/Steel, Fighting/Water/Normal
  4. Gen IV: Dark/Psychic, Psychic, Steel/Water/Psychic,
  5. Gen V: Normal/Electric/Fighting, Fighting/Grass/Steel/Water, Electric/Fire/Water
  6. Gen VI: Dark/Psychic/Fighting
  7. Gen VII: Electric/Grass/Psychic/Water, Steel/Psychic/Dragon
  8. Gen VIII: Psychic/Fighting/Dark
Looking at this new chart, we can say that Fairy/Dragon is not happening. Instead, Grass/Dragon, Steel/Dragon or Electric/Dragon is now likely. If it is Grass, then the rest will likely be Electric and Water since we have Fire and Water(ORAS) and Electric and Fire(BW). If it is Steel, then the rest will be according to Regis' types. If it is Electric, rest can be Flying and Ground, similar to Kamis.

So... let's discuss about Switch Lite and what it means for Gen IX

This is a belated sequel to this post.

**First and foremost, datamine showcases 2 open slots for possible Mythicals, meaning we see Gen 8 continue at least for 2021.
**Secondly, Nintendo themselves have stated that they want to prolong the Switch's life to more than 6 years. We don't know what this means, but it likely means no successor until 2023, which is to be expected.

Now that is over let's look at the handheld release schedule (JAPAN ONLY, no Virtual Boy):

  1. Game Boy: 1989
  2. Game Boy Color: 1998
  3. Game Boy Advance: 2001
  4. Nintendo DS: 2004
  5. Nintendo 3DS: 2011
  6. Switch: 2017 (Switch Lite: 2019)
Looking at this, 6 years seems to be lower-end expectation.

For hardware revisions (3DS only):
  1. Base 3DS: 2011
  2. 3DS XL: 2012
  3. 2DS (Western): 2013
  4. NN3DS/XL (Japan & Australia): 2014
  5. NN3DS/XL(Western): 2015
  6. 2DS (Japan): 2016
  7. N2DSXL: 2017
All years 3DS was active on there were a release of sorts with Japan getting a new release roughly 2 years.

So,

2017: Switch
2019: Switch Lite
2021: Switch New?
2023: Switch New Lite?

Since there will a new Pokémon game each year, 2021 would coincide with Crystal Let's GO remakes, and 2023 would coincide with Gen 9's second game and presumably the Switch's successor.

In terms of specs, Switch fails to deliver TFLOP values, being stuck around 393 GFLOPs, this is largely due to weaker GPU. Using this as value, next Switch should be double the power of the current Switch both docked and undocked, unless NVIDIA shifts to TSMC's 7nm+*. This means it will be half the power of the original Xbone(in terms of FLOPS, in terms of CPU it will be superior). Nonetheless, both processing speed and RAM should double in the next mid-gen update for Switch, and still increase for the true Switch successor.

*Though it should be noted that Orin, the latest Tegra chip for self-driving cards is expected to be in 7nm process. Nonetheless, it won't be in the Switch's update, possibly its successor might have it though.

Edit: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tegra Both the current Switch revision and Switch Lite use the new 16nm Tegra X1, which can do about 600 Gflops at max, which is higher than regular Switch's 400 flops. But since Switch's RAM is half of the max ram of Tegra 214 (4 GB instead of 8) the actual performance is probably around 468 GFLOPs.

Edit(07.01.2020): According to DigiTimes, Nintendo is seeking to release a new variant of Switch in the middle of 2020, with the production starting in the end of first quarter of 2020. Since these quarters are according to Japanese Fiscal Year, this would mean production will begin around June with the release being in September/October/November, which will be consistent with DSi (November 2008 in Japan) and NN3DS (October 2014 in Japan).

This would also mean Switch's successor would release before April 2023, before the start of the new fiscal year, to be consistent with 3DS (February 2011) and Switch (March 2017).

Switch Pro Lite would then release in late 2021 if there is a Let's GO Crystal game, and late 2022 if 2021 is a gap year for Pokémon.

It is unlikely that there will be more iterations for Switch Pro besides slim ones, unless Switch Pro is dock only, in which case we would have the portable version in 2021 and Lite version in 2022.

Edit (01.02.2020):
http://www.vgchartz.com/article/442267/nintendo-we-have-no-plans-to-launch-a-new-nintendo-switch-model-during-2020/
http://www.vgchartz.com/article/442271/nintendo-plans-to-continue-to-support-their-games-with-dlc/

Nintendo confirmed that they do not intend to release a Switch SKU in 2020, which means we are NOT getting a Switch Pro or a new SKU like a magnesium-alloy case in not just calendar 2020, but also fiscal 2020 (April 2020-March 2021).

This means the rumored Switch version will be released in November 2021, unless Nintendo decides to release a new Switch successor in November 2021-March 2022 timeframe, which is perfectly plausible as Switch was released in the tail-end of the fiscal 2016 (March 2017).

This would also follow more closely in the line of DSi, even though 3DS was technically released in fiscal 2010(February 2011).

Edit (07.07.2021):
https://www.vgchartz.com/article/449636/nintendo-switch-oled-model-announced-launches-october-8-for-34999/
Instead of a Pro version, Nintendo announced an OLED version of Switch with slight enhancements for October 8th 2021.

We will likely get a Lite version in the coming years, but this probably means Nintendo does not intend Switch to remain relevant for long, but Coronavirus might artificially extend its lifespan regardless, just like 2007-2009 crash expanded the lifespans of PS3 and Xbox 360.

Let's talk about fan types: Part 17: Food/Gourmand-type

1. So, what is this type all about?

The idea of a Food-type has been around as a joke type for a while now, with its various variations. But in the recent years it has become an actual suggestion.

2.Where does this name come from?

Original incarnations of this type would focus on a specific food, like candies or desserts. But as a general type it is similar to the Food-type in Digimon.

3. Does this type have an in-game source?

Sort of, there are a few food-based species like Swirlix, and there are few Abilities like Sweet Veil and Gluttony. In terms of moves outside of Seed-based moves we have Sweet Scent.

4. What would be the ideas behind such a type?

To eat or to be eaten, basically. This type would be a dumping ground for many cutemons based on foods, similar to Madolche archetype in YGO. It would also be a dumping ground for fatmons like Snorlax and Lickilicky.

5. What would be the type interactions of such a type?

There are few conceptualizations, but TipsyRa1d3n's conceptualization can give one a good idea.

6. What would be the distribution of such a type?

It would be similar to Fairy. Many early game species would have it, but it would be distributed to a limited amount of species that just happen to appear a lot.

7. Future comments:
Should this type be a thing, it would be an easily merchandisable type, because Pokémon franchise can now work with restaurants to create lifelike versions of these species. Not to mention, they would likely be very popular with girls and the Internet as a whole.

Let's talk about fan types: Part 16: Beast/Animal-type

1. So, what is this type all about?
The idea behind a Beast-type is to put all regular animal based Normal-types away from the Normal-type. This way, Normal can just become a default type for odd non-elemental species, while regular animals wouldn't have to both with it.

2.Where does this name come from?

The name comes from the Beast-type monsters from Yu-Gi-Oh!, SMT and Digimon.

3. Does this type have an in-game source?

Generally speaking, no. Only the fact that most mammalian based species tend to get put in Normal-type. Field Egg Group is more of a "terrestrial animals" thing.

4. What would be the ideas behind such a type?

It would largely be a fodder type for mammalian and carnivorous species. Presumably reptilian species, birds and fish wouldn't be in it, as in most other monster franchises, Beasts generally refer to mammalians.

5. What would be the type interactions of such a type?

Earliest possible conceptualization I found belongs to King Xerneas' post in Pokébeach. But the idea of making it weak to itself seems popular enough.

6. What would be the distribution of such a type?

Very large. The main reason this type is desired is because it would be given to MANY Pokémon, effectively buffing a large portion of the metagame in one swoop.

7. Future comments:

In addition to regular species, mythical beasts such as Kirin and Kitsune can be added to this type as non-elemental variations of their respective species, as opposed

Notes on Monster types in Yu-Gi-Oh! vs. Pokémon types

  1. Aqua, Fish, Sea Serpent: Water. Fish represents Water 2 Egg Group, while Sea Serpent is literally Sea Dragon, or Kairyu(Dragonite's Japanese name).
  2. Beast, Beast-Warrior, Cyberse, Reptile: Normal-type. Beast-Warrior represents Human-Like/Field combination, while Reptile can represent Monster Egg Group at times. Cyberse is here because of Porygon.
  3. Dinosaur, Rock: Rock-type. Dinosaur is represented by Fossilmons and Monster Egg Group.
  4. Dragon, Wyrm: Dragon-type.
  5. Fairy: Fairy, duh. Though Fairy in YGO is Angel-type in Japanese.
  6. Fiend: Dark
  7. Insect: Bug
  8. Machine: Steel
  9. Plant: Grass
  10. Psychic, Spellcaster: Psychic
  11. Pyro: Fire
  12. Thunder: Electric
  13. Warrior: Fighting
  14. Winged Beast: Flying
  15. Zombie: Ghost.
Notes:
  1. Ice, Poison and Ground do not have direct counterparts. Earth is an attribute in YGO, not a Monster Type, so Beast can be the most fitting, but due to its abundance and variety it fits to Normal best. Ice is only a subcategory of aquatic types, and Reptile is only part of Poison-type in Pokémon.
  2. Because most of the recent medium based and mystic based magical monsters in YGO tend to be in Psychic-type instead of Spellcaster, there isn't a true counterpart for Spellcaster in Pokémon.
  3. Dinosaur also doesn't have a direct counterpart, but its Japanese name is kyouryu, which literally means "fear dragon" in its kanji (though it can also mean "strong lizard" in different kanji), a transliteration of the meaning of the name dinosaur in latin, which means "terrible lizard" or "potent lizard"). Similar thing goes for reptiles in Pokémon, but Poison and Normal is commonly associated with them.

A speculative proposal to split Unova Pokédex into two generations

I felt Unova's Pokémon were not only derivatives of previous generations but also of each other, so I thought why don't we split them up? Each group will be around 78 Pokémon, as there are 156 species in Unova.

29 Nisan 2018 Pazar

Let's talk about fan types: Part 15: Arachnid-type

1. So, what is this type all about?

The idea behind this type is to partition Bug-type into more than one group Main idea why this type exists is because of the Spider sub-archetype, as well as various Scorpion-based species that are not in Bug-type but in Bug Egg Group.

2.Where does this name come from?

The name comes from the actual animal group Arachnids.

3. Does this type have an in-game source?

Not really. Spider archetype is slowly becoming a sub-archetype, but other forms of Arachnids are not even a coherent sub-group. Currently, only relevant move is Spider Web.

4. What would be the ideas behind such a type?

Various forms of Arachnids and Arachnomorpha could be in this type. It would largely be a deviation of Bug-type though, perhaps a slightly upgraded form.

5. What would be the type interactions of such a type?

Mostly same as Bug-type, but without the Flying super-effectiveness and Grass effectiveness.

6. What would be the distribution of such a type?

Largely limited to mid-game Pokémon, as most Spiders and Scorpions in Pokémon are mid-game species besides Spinarak.

7. Future comments:

More kaiju-style arachnids, like the few seen in Monster Hunter can be added.

23 Mart 2018 Cuma

Let's talk about fan types: Part 14: Wood-type

1. So, what is this type all about?

The idea behind this type is to partition Grass-type. This part references Grass-type's formerly Special status and implied weakness.

2.Where does this name come from?

The name comes from move Wood Hammer, which has been given a variety of Grass-types. Japanese  name of Horn Leech is Wood Horn as well.

3. Does this type have an in-game source?

Not really. Tree-based species are very varied in Pokémon. Some aren't even Grass-type, like Bonsly-line and Xerneas.

4. What would be the ideas behind such a type?

Largely physical moves and healing moves. Special Wood moves are difficult to conceptualize.

5. What would be the type interactions of such a type?

Similar to Grass, but with more physical orientation. The only major conceptualization of Wood-type was done in Brown and Prism.

6. What would be the distribution of such a type?

Relatively rare. Trees are less common than weed.

7. Future comments:

This type can be a theoretical upgrade to Grass-type for late-game.

Let's talk about fan types: Part 13: Fungus/Mushroom-type

1. So, what is this type all about?

The idea is that Mushroom based species are specific enough to warrant their own type, as all Mushroom-based species use a type combination that was already in use or later became in use. The other reason is because mushrooms are not plants, though they are generally perceived as such.

2.Where does this name come from?

The name doesn't come from anything, per se. Spore's Japanese name is Mushroom Spore, but outside of that there is nothing specific regarding Mushrooms, however Mushrooms are their own archetype within the Grass-type.

3. Does this type have an in-game source?

Yes. Most spore moves and Grass-type's immunity to them is related to Mushrooms.

4. What would be the ideas behind such a type?

Mainly it would be based on different forms of fungus and mold. It would also be based on species with mushroom infection, and mushrooms' role in mythology.

5. What would be the type interactions of such a type?

It would be largely similar to Grass with less weaknesses and more effectiveness.

6. What would be the distribution of such a type?

Rare but easily available. It would be largely a mid-game type for uncommon encounters and status spam.

7. Future comments:

Mushroom based species generally appear in odd generations. If this becomes its own type, it would mean that more Spore users would be created per generation.

21 Mart 2018 Çarşamba

Let's talk about fan types. Part 12. Aquatic-type.

1. So, what is this type all about?
Aquatic-type is an idea promoted by Saiph-Charon, initially on reddit, later on Deviantart and 4chan:
https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemon/comments/7h7t20/if_you_could_introduce_one_new_type_what_would_it/?st=jf1rgnti&sh=c2166d33

This idea supposes that Water-type, due to its sheer abundance, should be split into two categories, one refering the element of Water, and other referring the existence of being in water.

Fundamentally, this follows in line of Water being split into three Egg Groups depending on their body types.

2.Where does this name come from?

The name is supposed to match Flying-type in terms of theme and idea, referring to being a swimmer, rather than a Water elemental. It also follows with Telefang and Digimon's classification of Water elemental species.

3. Does this type have an in-game source?

As stated before, Water-type is abundant and large. This would help to cut it in half

4. What would be the ideas behind such a type?

Aquatic type would use moves that utilize water, rather than summoning water. Species in it would be aquatic and swimming animals, rather than Water elementals.

5. What would be the type interactions of such a type?

Mainly, it would act as a balancing type for other types, like Ice. Water covers for a large variety of situations, so this would cut them.

6. What would be the distribution of such a type?

Large as Water, actually. Perhaps even more.

7. Future comments:

This idea can only really work in conjunction with a Wind-type. Otherwise, there are other ways to split Water.

Let's talk about fan types. Part 11. Plastic/Rubber-type.

1. So, what is this type all about?

The idea behind this type is to introduce an unconventional synthetic type for an RPG. Most RPGs, being of medieval origin, do not have rubber or plastic enemies. However, Pokémon is an urban fantasy franchise with sci-fi elements, so a Rubber-type is perfectly feasible... in theory.

2.Where does this name come from?

The name is a perennial joke type. First known instance comes from Serebiiforums' Joke types thread:
http://www.serebiiforums.com/showthread.php?145290-Joke-Types

This type has expanded since the popularity of Deviantart and /vp/ into a serious suggestion. One suggestion by LeafyHart can be found here:
https://leafyheart.deviantart.com/art/Rubber-Type-Specs-392527598

3. Does this type have an in-game source?

No. There are tons of elastic moves like Constrict, Wring Out etc., but this type is largely argued as a sub-group of a larger Synthetic-type that would include both cybernetic and plastic synthetics. Only species that are arguably composed of plastic are Trubbish and Drifloon, though this type is argued for all elastic species, including Buizel's collar.

4. What would be the ideas behind such a type?

Mainly synthetics composed of organic materials, such as tires, action figures, as well as general elasticity, plasticity and malleable species can be used.

5. What would be the type interactions of such a type?

Generally argued things are weakness to Fire and Ice, lots of defense and immunity to Electric. Anything else can be argued for anything.

6. What would be the distribution of such a type?

Probably similar to Rock. Most of Plastic-type species would probably be Mineral or Amorphous, so they would be easily accessible but few.

 7. Future comments:

This type would be largely used as an earlier variant of Steel-type. It would presumably have access to Limber or a type based immunity to paralysis. However, it would probably used for mid-game species to make Joke Pokémon a bit more powerful. It would also be useful for making merchandise.

Notes on VGC 2018

Since cover legendaries are still banned, this means that Switch games will likely be in 2019, and the current three year cycle will continue for the time being.

This also likely implies at least one, at most two Mythicals with alternate Forms for USUM.

This doesn't mean Gen 8 won't appear in the next movie, but it does mean we won't see a new Mythical in the next movie.

This does mean that there is a good chance that Switch will only last six years, unless it has three generations for a full nine years life cycle(which would be 11 years of wait for Pokémon).

Notes on DP important character rosters

For sake of potential stat changes for DP remakes, let's look at the major character teams:

Gym leaders:
-Roark's team consists of Geodude, Onix, and Cranidos. Golem has gained a stat boost in Gen 6, Steelix got a Mega in ORAS, and Cranidos is... Cranidos. Cranidos will likely get another Ability rather than a stat boost.
-Gardenia's team consists of Turtwig, Cherubi/Cherrim, Roserade. Roserade has gained a stat boost in Gen 6, Torterra might get a boost, and Cherrim will likely get a boost.
-Maylene's team got Meditite, Machoke and Lucario. Lucario and Medicham got Megas, Machamp got stat boost.

Yet another shitty side evolution idea for fan games

So, I was thinking abut a side evolution method for rearranging different stat distributions for evolutions. So, here is an idea, Rebound Evolution.

Basically, this would be a "hidden" evolution method achievable after completing and refusing the conventional evolution, by pressing B button. For example, let's say you use Thunder Stone on a Pikachu. You stop it by pressing B button. The Pokémon resets and now you can evolve it using a different method, conventional or otherwise.

Some sort of key or hold item might be needed to trigger these evolutions, but basically, the idea would be that you would go back from evolution and "correct" it to get a rare variant. This variant will likely not be different BST, but it would allow you to get one with different, generally more harshly min-maxed or differently typed variant of the evolution that would serve as the dex filler.
