Should Amorphous Egg Group be its own type?

While Amorphous technically covers for two major types,  Poison and Ghost, most of the members in Amorphous are mono-type and mono-Egg Group, with some like Tynamo-line being incapable of having Egg Moves, or like Rotom don't have genders. So, if an Amorphous Type were to be invented, it would boost both the Egg Group at large, as well as individual members. There are also few goopy monsters like Tentacool-line and Goomy-line that don't exist in the Amorphous Group. There are a few issues, though:

  1. Amorphous Egg Group is one of the driest Egg Groups in the franchise, rivaled only by Mineral, which is larger but filled with genderless monsters.
  2. There really isn't a common move for Amorphous Group besides Acid Armor, which is already Poison-type and various Ghost-type moves.
  3. It is hard to create a common type interaction besides abusing the JRPG slime archetype, which generally doesn't have its own class or race in any major Mon franchise.
However, there are a few benefits:
  1. It gives a reason for Slug-based Pokémon to be Bug-type without being in the Amorphous group. Same goes for mollusks in Water-type.
  2. It buffs a bunch of Pokémon substantially.
  3. It allows more synthetic and alchemical designs.
Some ideas for this type could be:
  1. Slugs and mollusks are a must for this type to become an actual type. Sponges and single celled organisms can also work.
  2. Various slime monsters can serve as inspiration. This would also buff up Amorphous Egg Group's moveset variance. Various shapeshifters can also belong in this type.
  3. It would allow Poison-type to focus more on reptilian and organic species, whereas Ghost can work on actual undead Pokémon, like zombies, skulls etc. Bug-type can also focus on actual insects instead of just creepy crawlers.
  4. It gives us a "Synth" type while being consistent with the franchise.
Possible type interactions would be:
  1. Most slime monsters resist physical moves while being weak to magic attacks. In Pokémon, this can be turned into a resistance to Fighting, Steel and Rock, and a weakness towards Psychic, Fairy and Ghost.
  2. Slime monsters tend to recover health quickly, which can give this type lots of leeching and recovery options. Some slime monsters also heal their allies, which can be turned into a clerical moveset.
  3. Slime monsters also tend to run away, which can give this type same immunity to trapping as Ghost-types.
  4. Alternatively, Slime monsters appear in dark areas, so they can resist Poison, Dark and/or Ghost.
Possible retypes include:
  1. Regular Grimer/Muk
  2. Koffing/Weezing
  3. Misdreavus/Mismagius
  4. Wynaut/Wobbuffet
  5. Slugma
  6. Gulpin/Swalot
  7. Shuppet/Banette
  8. Duskull/Dusclops/Dusknoir
  9. Shellos
  10. Yamask/Cofagrigus
  11. Solosis/Duosion/Reuniclus
  12. Tynamo/Eelektrik/Eelektross
Other possible retypes include:
  1. Ditto
  2. Vanillite/Vanillish/Vanilluxe
  3. Shelmet/Accelgor
  4. Goomy/Sliggoo/Goodra
  5. Trubbish/Garbodor
Possible retyped moves include:
  1. Reflect Type
Other possible ones include:
  1. Acid Armor (already Poison, so unlikely)
  2. Recycle
  3. Pain Split (based off a Sumo Wrestling move, so unlikely)

Let's talk about fan types: Part 17: Food/Gourmand-type

1. So, what is this type all about?

The idea of a Food-type has been around as a joke type for a while now, with its various variations. But in the recent years it has become an actual suggestion.

2.Where does this name come from?

Original incarnations of this type would focus on a specific food, like candies or desserts. But as a general type it is similar to the Food-type in Digimon.

3. Does this type have an in-game source?

Sort of, there are a few food-based species like Swirlix, and there are few Abilities like Sweet Veil and Gluttony. In terms of moves outside of Seed-based moves we have Sweet Scent.

4. What would be the ideas behind such a type?

To eat or to be eaten, basically. This type would be a dumping ground for many cutemons based on foods, similar to Madolche archetype in YGO. It would also be a dumping ground for fatmons like Snorlax and Lickilicky.

5. What would be the type interactions of such a type?

There are few conceptualizations, but TipsyRa1d3n's conceptualization can give one a good idea.

6. What would be the distribution of such a type?

It would be similar to Fairy. Many early game species would have it, but it would be distributed to a limited amount of species that just happen to appear a lot.

7. Future comments:
Should this type be a thing, it would be an easily merchandisable type, because Pokémon franchise can now work with restaurants to create lifelike versions of these species. Not to mention, they would likely be very popular with girls and the Internet as a whole.

Let's talk about fan types: Part 16: Beast/Animal-type

1. So, what is this type all about?
The idea behind a Beast-type is to put all regular animal based Normal-types away from the Normal-type. This way, Normal can just become a default type for odd non-elemental species, while regular animals wouldn't have to both with it.

2.Where does this name come from?

The name comes from the Beast-type monsters from Yu-Gi-Oh!, SMT and Digimon.

3. Does this type have an in-game source?

Generally speaking, no. Only the fact that most mammalian based species tend to get put in Normal-type. Field Egg Group is more of a "terrestrial animals" thing.

4. What would be the ideas behind such a type?

It would largely be a fodder type for mammalian and carnivorous species. Presumably reptilian species, birds and fish wouldn't be in it, as in most other monster franchises, Beasts generally refer to mammalians.

5. What would be the type interactions of such a type?

Earliest possible conceptualization I found belongs to King Xerneas' post in Pokébeach. But the idea of making it weak to itself seems popular enough.

6. What would be the distribution of such a type?

Very large. The main reason this type is desired is because it would be given to MANY Pokémon, effectively buffing a large portion of the metagame in one swoop.

7. Future comments:

In addition to regular species, mythical beasts such as Kirin and Kitsune can be added to this type as non-elemental variations of their respective species, as opposed

Should Monster Egg Group be its own type?

Unlike the traditional fan type posts, this one is an idea I personally had, though it was considered by others before. The idea is that since all Egg Groups have a type or two that embodies it, would it make sense for Monster to get its own type. The traditional types Monster Egg Group all have their own Egg Groups, Dragon has Dragon, Ground, and Normal have Field, Rock, Steel and Ice have Mineral, Water has Water 1,2,3, Poison has Amorphous and Grass has Grass. With the precedence of Fairy-type, this is an idea that makes sense on paper. However there are a few issues:
  1. The amount of species exclusive to Monster Egg Group is limited, much more than Fairy Egg Group, and most of them are not mono-type.
  2. Most of the mono-type species in Monster Egg Group belong to an Egg Group that embodies their primary type, like the ones posted above.
  3. Because the kaiju are varied, giving a type specification is difficult without taking points from Bug and Dragon.
Though, there are few advantages:
  1. Monster Egg Group has its own Body style, the bipedal-tailed form.
  2. Thrash and Stomp are common moves for the Egg Group, which can serve as a basis for a full moveset for the potential type.
  3. Each generation with the exception of Johto has at least one species that can be converted to this type.
Some ideas for this type could be:
  1. Most of the dinosaur species in the franchise belong to Monster Egg Group in one way or another. If the franchise goes the same route as some fangames, they can have non-fossil dinosaur-like species in this Egg Group and this can be a "Dino-type".
  2. While the term kaiju refers to only large movie monsters, in the Japanese language, the term refers to all tokusatsu monsters, like the humanoid Super Sentai/Power Rangers and Kamen Rider villains, but also movie aliens. In other words, Universal monsters and other movie monsters like the Thing(pre-John Carpenter plant monster) and the plant from Little Shop of Horrors (the original psychic plant, not Audrey II from 1980s musical) can also work, so can characters like Beetlejuice in homage to SMT II.
  3. Similarly, many common horror or urban folklore monsters, especially the large ones, can be put into this type, like Lovecraftian species, Leviathan, Kraken, Giant Enemy Crab etc.
  4. Monster can be a good a middle point between Normal and Dragon, like how Fairy was for Normal and Psychic. It would be more common than Dragon in terms of distribution, but due to being a new type it would have roughly equivalent or less members that just appear a lot.
Possible type interactions would be:
  1. Similar but weaker elemental interactions to Dragon. Perhaps resistance to Electric and Water like Dragon, but neutral interactions to Ice, Fire, and Grass.
  2. Weakness to Dragon and Dark to give it some sort of conflict between these two types, and to buff them offensively.
  3. Resistance by Rock, Grass and Ice maybe? Most Monster Egg Group members can learn Earthquake, so resistance by Rock wouldn't hurt a lot, same goes for Grass and Ice. Offensively, there aren't a lot of types they can work against outside of Water and Ground without breaking the game, but I guess something can be figured out after other types are rebalanced.
Possible retypes include:
  1. Blastoise
  2. Regular Marowak
  3. Lickitung-Lickilicky
  4. Kangaskhan
  5. Munchlax-Snorlax
  6. Ampharos
  7. Whismur-Loudred-Exploud

  6. Hippopotas-Hippowdon

  1. Roar
  2. Leer
  3. Noble Roar
  4. Mean Look

Let's talk about fan types: Part 15: Arachnid-type

1. So, what is this type all about?

The idea behind this type is to partition Bug-type into more than one group Main idea why this type exists is because of the Spider sub-archetype, as well as various Scorpion-based species that are not in Bug-type but in Bug Egg Group.

2.Where does this name come from?

The name comes from the actual animal group Arachnids.

3. Does this type have an in-game source?

Not really. Spider archetype is slowly becoming a sub-archetype, but other forms of Arachnids are not even a coherent sub-group. Currently, only relevant move is Spider Web.

4. What would be the ideas behind such a type?

Various forms of Arachnids and Arachnomorpha could be in this type. It would largely be a deviation of Bug-type though, perhaps a slightly upgraded form.

5. What would be the type interactions of such a type?

Mostly same as Bug-type, but without the Flying super-effectiveness and Grass effectiveness.

6. What would be the distribution of such a type?

Largely limited to mid-game Pokémon, as most Spiders and Scorpions in Pokémon are mid-game species besides Spinarak.

7. Future comments:

More kaiju-style arachnids, like the few seen in Monster Hunter can be added.

Let's talk about fan types: Part 14: Wood-type

1. So, what is this type all about?

The idea behind this type is to partition Grass-type. This part references Grass-type's formerly Special status and implied weakness.

2.Where does this name come from?

The name comes from move Wood Hammer, which has been given a variety of Grass-types. Japanese  name of Horn Leech is Wood Horn as well.

3. Does this type have an in-game source?

Not really. Tree-based species are very varied in Pokémon. Some aren't even Grass-type, like Bonsly-line and Xerneas.

4. What would be the ideas behind such a type?

Largely physical moves and healing moves. Special Wood moves are difficult to conceptualize.

5. What would be the type interactions of such a type?

Similar to Grass, but with more physical orientation. The only major conceptualization of Wood-type was done in Brown and Prism.

6. What would be the distribution of such a type?

Relatively rare. Trees are less common than weed.

7. Future comments:

This type can be a theoretical upgrade to Grass-type for late-game.

Let's talk about fan types: Part 13: Fungus/Mushroom-type

1. So, what is this type all about?

The idea is that Mushroom based species are specific enough to warrant their own type, as all Mushroom-based species use a type combination that was already in use or later became in use. The other reason is because mushrooms are not plants, though they are generally perceived as such.

2.Where does this name come from?

The name doesn't come from anything, per se. Spore's Japanese name is Mushroom Spore, but outside of that there is nothing specific regarding Mushrooms, however Mushrooms are their own archetype within the Grass-type.

3. Does this type have an in-game source?

Yes. Most spore moves and Grass-type's immunity to them is related to Mushrooms.

4. What would be the ideas behind such a type?

Mainly it would be based on different forms of fungus and mold. It would also be based on species with mushroom infection, and mushrooms' role in mythology.

5. What would be the type interactions of such a type?

It would be largely similar to Grass with less weaknesses and more effectiveness.

6. What would be the distribution of such a type?

Rare but easily available. It would be largely a mid-game type for uncommon encounters and status spam.

7. Future comments:

Mushroom based species generally appear in odd generations. If this becomes its own type, it would mean that more Spore users would be created per generation.

Let's talk about fan types. Part 12. Aquatic-type.

1. So, what is this type all about?
Aquatic-type is an idea promoted by Saiph-Charon, initially on reddit, later on Deviantart and 4chan:
https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemon/comments/7h7t20/if_you_could_introduce_one_new_type_what_would_it/?st=jf1rgnti&sh=c2166d33

This idea supposes that Water-type, due to its sheer abundance, should be split into two categories, one refering the element of Water, and other referring the existence of being in water.

Fundamentally, this follows in line of Water being split into three Egg Groups depending on their body types.

2.Where does this name come from?

The name is supposed to match Flying-type in terms of theme and idea, referring to being a swimmer, rather than a Water elemental. It also follows with Telefang and Digimon's classification of Water elemental species.

3. Does this type have an in-game source?

As stated before, Water-type is abundant and large. This would help to cut it in half

4. What would be the ideas behind such a type?

Aquatic type would use moves that utilize water, rather than summoning water. Species in it would be aquatic and swimming animals, rather than Water elementals.

5. What would be the type interactions of such a type?

Mainly, it would act as a balancing type for other types, like Ice. Water covers for a large variety of situations, so this would cut them.

6. What would be the distribution of such a type?

Large as Water, actually. Perhaps even more.

7. Future comments:

This idea can only really work in conjunction with a Wind-type. Otherwise, there are other ways to split Water.

Let's talk about fan types. Part 11. Plastic/Rubber-type.

1. So, what is this type all about?

The idea behind this type is to introduce an unconventional synthetic type for an RPG. Most RPGs, being of medieval origin, do not have rubber or plastic enemies. However, Pokémon is an urban fantasy franchise with sci-fi elements, so a Rubber-type is perfectly feasible... in theory.

2.Where does this name come from?

The name is a perennial joke type. First known instance comes from Serebiiforums' Joke types thread:
http://www.serebiiforums.com/showthread.php?145290-Joke-Types

This type has expanded since the popularity of Deviantart and /vp/ into a serious suggestion. One suggestion by LeafyHart can be found here:
https://leafyheart.deviantart.com/art/Rubber-Type-Specs-392527598

3. Does this type have an in-game source?

No. There are tons of elastic moves like Constrict, Wring Out etc., but this type is largely argued as a sub-group of a larger Synthetic-type that would include both cybernetic and plastic synthetics. Only species that are arguably composed of plastic are Trubbish and Drifloon, though this type is argued for all elastic species, including Buizel's collar.

4. What would be the ideas behind such a type?

Mainly synthetics composed of organic materials, such as tires, action figures, as well as general elasticity, plasticity and malleable species can be used.

5. What would be the type interactions of such a type?

Generally argued things are weakness to Fire and Ice, lots of defense and immunity to Electric. Anything else can be argued for anything.

6. What would be the distribution of such a type?

Probably similar to Rock. Most of Plastic-type species would probably be Mineral or Amorphous, so they would be easily accessible but few.

 7. Future comments:

This type would be largely used as an earlier variant of Steel-type. It would presumably have access to Limber or a type based immunity to paralysis. However, it would probably used for mid-game species to make Joke Pokémon a bit more powerful. It would also be useful for making merchandise.
