Notes:
**No completion of type combos for any existing types.
**Little to no new combos for types less than 3 type combos remaining.
**A lot of emphasis on Fairies, as well type combos that can be used for regional forms.
Speculated type combos for Gen 9:
Two type combos for: Fairy, Poison, Normal, Fighting
Likely unique type combinations that can be used are:
*There needs to be around 2 Fire-types.
*There needs to be around 1 Bug-type.
*There needs to be a Dark-type.
*There needs to be an Electric-type.
*There needs to be a Dragon-type.
*There needs to be a Psychic-type.
*There needs to be a Ghost-type.
*There needs to be 12 type combinations in total.
Using this, here's a possible list for Gen 9 Pokémon, we are assuming 90 new species because we got 81 in this gen:
Regional Forms:
Notes:
- Battle Royale does not exist anymore, as they are replaced by Max Raids. These obviously won't exist in Gen 9.
- There are no new field effect moves because Dynamax moves instantly set up terrains and weathers
- There hasn't been a new Evolutionary Stone, but Glaceon, Leafeon and Vikavolt have been retconned into Evolution Stone evolutions.
- Subregional dexes no longer exist
- Dark-type finally has a Gym.
- Body Styles no longer exist in the Pokédex classification.
- Fairy-type is no longer a TCG type.
- DLCs are now a thing.
Additional notes:
- Since this gen had 400 Pokémon in Galar dex, next gen will likely have around 300-320 Pokémon.
- Because we saw 81 new Pokémon this gen initially, we will likely see 90 new Pokémon next gen, but bulk of them will be legendary or analogous to legendaries, as there is no sub-legendary group and for the time being no Mythicals besides old ones, even though we know new Mythicals are coming due to placeholders found in the data.
- Mid-gen updates will likely be higher this gen or Gen 7. We might surpass 1000 mark barely.
- Since Dynamaxing will likely still exist, the next gen's gimmick will likely be most likely be ultimate Types, instead of ultimate Abilities or items.
- Pokémon Amie will likely have a fourth iteration after Refresh and Camping. Camping itself, alongside associated items, is unlikely to return.
- Since the massive overhaul of TM and introduction of TRs, we might see TMs and by proxy TRs become inheritable again, but most likely TRs will likely be just made into regular TMs, increasing TM count to 200 finally.
- Outside of this, there might be a passive hatching method that won't require steps. All other necessary quality of life improvements like changing Natures, auto-saving and portable Box access are granted in Gen 8.
- Gyms likely will be replaced by something similar to Trials because CALIFORNIA.
Notes on cross-gen additions:
--Cross-generational additions:
Gen II: 7 babies, 11 evolutions(6 main, 5 side)
Gen III: 2 babes,
Gen IV: 7 babies, 22 evolutions (18 main, 4 side)
Gen V: N/A
Gen VI: 46 Megas(+2 alt Megas), 1 side, 2 Primals
Gen VII: 18 Alolan forms (7 full lines, 3 side evos)
Gen VIII: 12 Galarian forms (8 full lines including 1 standalone, 2 side evos), 6 Regional Evolutions (4 full, 2 side), 26 Gigantamax forms (for now, 25 fully evolved including 2 standalones, 3 NFE)
For stat retcons
Gen 6: 29, almost exclusively third stages.
Gen 7: 26, primarily second stages.
Gen 8, 1, Aegislash nerf only.

*Bug: Since next generation is going to be an odd one, it is unlikely that we will see tons of new Bug-type combinations. Instead, the focus will likely be on underused type combos. Gen 7 introduced two fully-evolved Water/Bugs, and another Bug/Electric, so next generation will likely follow on the same-line with introducing one or two Bug/Grounds and a Bug/Ghost or Bug/Ice. For new type combos, Bug/Dragon is the obvious choice since it will complete Dragon-type, which will likely be removed from TCG (again) next gen like Fairy.
*Dark: While the removal of Fairy-type from TCG would imply good things for Dark-type, much like Bug-types, odd generations tend to be bad at introducing new type combos for Dark-types. This might not matter much if we get the last type combo for Dark-types, Bug/Dark in this gen's DLC, chances are that the focus will be on Poison-types again. Bulk of Dark-types will likely be Regional Forms, especially since odd generations do not crossgenerational evolutions or generational gimmick forms like Megas or Gigantamaxes.
*Dragon: With the removal of Fairy-type from TCG, there isn't much a reason to keep Dragon-type after Gen 8. So if they are removed from TCG as well, it will likely be the end of Dragon-type's fortunes after the start of its renaissance from Gen 5. While there is a slight possibility that they might keep it in TCG until Gen 10's Unova's remakes, that seems unlikely to me. Dragon-type will likely return its fold in Gen 3 by being limited to Pseudos, Legendaries and a few mid-game Pokémon.
*Electric: As this generation introduced the bulk of the remaining type combinations for Electric-type, next generation will likely take a more anemic approach to the type, limiting it to a sub-type for some early Pokémon like Gen 7's Vikavolt and one of the mascot Legendaries. Nonetheless, it is also likely that some more regional forms will see it being used, with this time including Pokémon that didn't have Electric-type originally. If Light-type is planned to be introduced in Gen 10, then chances are most of the Electric-types introduced here will be monotype for future retyping.
*Fairy: Since Fairy-type lost its place in the TCG, it is functionally over as the over-hyped type. It will take a more rare approach similar to Ghost-type, but there likely will be a fair amount of Regional Forms that will be retyped to Fairy-type. Most of the remaining Fairy-type combos likely won't introduced in Gen 9.
*Fighting: Fighting-type will likely suffer a similar case to Dark-type, as the focus will likely be on Ground-types after they were neglected for three generations straight. Despite the fact that there is a fair amount of Fighting-type combos waiting, the focus will likely be on new typings of existing type combos that will have Fighting-type as the primary type like Fighting/Dragon or Fighting/Normal.
*Fire: Exactly how well Fire-type will go will depend on whether Dragon-type is retconned into Normal or Fire in the TCG. If it is the former, then Fire-types will likely be plenty as usual. If it is the latter, then Fire-types will be slightly less than usual for odd generations. Nonetheless, there is a good chance that remaining Fire-type combos will end in Gen 9, which would shift Fire-type into becoming a secondary type like Electric will likely be.
*Flying: The type will continue its slow decline as now there is no chance for it to become its own elemental type in the TCG. The focus will likely shift to base Normal-types instead, but we will likely see a fully evolved Flying monotype that isn't a Legendary or an alternate form.
*Ghost: Ghost will likely continue its slow rise in the franchise as Psychic-type's replacement, especially since Fairy-type failed in that regard. We may see more early Ghost-types in this generation, especially if it is based on California or Florida. The amount of new Ghost-types will likely be close to Gen 7.
*Grass: Grass will likely continue its ascendancy, though unlike last few generations there likely be more multi-type instead of mono-type Grass-types. Since Grass/Fire is likely going to be introduced later this generation, and we have a Grass Legendary, there isn't much else to do with outside of making it the third Legend's type.
*Ground: Ground-type may, and I say may, not likely, see more new stuff this generation, possibly mostly new Regional Forms like Gen 8. The rather anemic nature of the recent Ground-type introductions as well as the decreasing amount of Pokémon with Levitate suggests this type will be nerfed heavily in the Gen 10, but I don't know how.
*Ice: Since Fairy-type is now kaput, Ice-type will likely continue its rise as the premier Dragonslayer. Part of this will be to make Steel-type more attractive without introducing more Fairies, and part of this will be to take attention from Water-types, who have been incapable of learning most Ice-type moves since Gen 7.
*Normal: This generation will likely introduce most of the remaining Normal-type combos, as well as more new typings of existing type combinations with Normal-type as the primary type like Normal/Fire or Normal/Electric.
*Poison: Gen 9 will likely continue with the introduction of powerful new Poison-types as Poison-type is now part of Dark-type in the TCG, but it will still be less than Gen 1, obviously. Remaining type combos for Poison-type will be largely covered this gen. Not likely or may, but will.
*Psychic: Psychic will likely return to being the premier Legendary-type as now Fairy-type is dead, but mid and early Psychic-types will likely be removed in favor of Ghost-types. There will likely be a serious attempt at making Psychic-types relevant again, like it was the case for Gen 5, but if Light-type occurs in Gen 10, that will be moot once more.
*Rock: If Ground-types make a return, Rock-type will be limited in this gens, unless Rock-type becomes part of Metal in TCG. Nonetheless, remaining type combos for the type should be covered this gen.
*Steel: Exact nature of Steel-type will be treated will depend on whether it remains part of TCG types or not. If it does, there will be tons of new Steel-types. If not, the opposite will occur, as the type will be likely nerfed heavily in Gen 10, much like Dragon-type in Gen 6.
*Water: Though there likely be many Water-types, the amount of fully-evolved will continue to decline. Water will continue its shift to being the secondary type for new typings of existing type combos like Psychic/Water and Dark/Water.
