More terrible ideas

Because why not?

Pokémon:

  1. A Special variant of Meditite/Medicham: Based on Buddhist ascetic traditions, Meditite-line could have a reversal species based off Buddhist monks. These species would be more masculine than Medicham, however.
  2. Alternate type variants of Marill: As side evolutions to Azurill, there can be Grass, Fire or Electric spin-offs of Azurill. Azurill's Normal-type is currently pointless, so this would be a means of using it. Azurill can also now get Tri Attack.
  3. Sketch for all Egg Groups: Smeargle currently belongs to Field Egg Group, so it would make sense to have variants for all Egg Groups.
  4. Wingless Masquerain: Just give us a proper Water/Bug, GF.
  5. Alternate Lucario variants: Similar to Tyrogue, Riolu can get different Lucario with different stat distributions.
  6. Shroomish evolution that is a goddamn Fairy: Please.
  7. Day evolution/night evolution for night evolutions, day evolutions: Primarily for species that do not have counterparts, like Chingling, Budew and Riolu.
  8. Nekkid Wormadam that is pure Bug, because why not.

Type stuff

Type combinations with multiple quad weaknesses:
  1. Rock/Ground
  2. Ground/Rock
  3. Bug/Grass
  4. Fire/Rock
  5. Rock/Ice
  6. Steel/Rock
No weakness:
  1. Electric with Levitate.

On alternate type triangles.

As we have another generation coming, the endless debate of replacing the type triangle has begun again.

So, let's cover alternate type combinations, then:

Known triangles:
  1. Fire/Water/Grass- classic.
  2. Fighting/Dark/Psychic- Thief, Mage, Fighter triangle. Not mechanic, but thematic.
  3. Ice/Steel/Rock- Golem triangle. Somewhat mechanic, with Steel being a sub-leader.
Other triangles:
  1. Ground/Water/Flying- Geo-sphere triangle. Weather trio is this.
  2. Fire/Ice/Electric-Legendary birds and Tao trio
  3. Grass/Rock/Steel(/Water)- Muskedeers.
  4. Electric/Flying/Ground-Kami trio
  5. Steel/Water/Ghost-Creation trio
  6. Dragon/Dark/Fairy-Kalos trio.
  7. Fire/Water/Electric-First Eeveelutions and Legendary beasts
  8. Steel/Ghost/Dragon-Nebula trio.
Other notable stuff:
-DP starters had secondary typings that gave them advantage over their enemies. Fighting over Steel, Ground over Fire, Steel over... nothing actually. But we can say Ice instead of Steel due to Empoleon's theme.

Edit(25.01.19): Edited the notable stuff part and added Nebula Trio.

Is Quantity better than Quality?

A common repeated idea that's been going on is that quality overrides quality. That is, well designed Pokémon are superior to a Regional Dex and a Generation with large amount of Pokémon. This is generally thought to be the new direction of the franchise after Generation VI, with its low 72 Pokémon count.

We will be going the opposite route.

First off, we need to clarify certain benefits of additional Pokémon, then rebuke common claims against them, and then rebuke uncommon claims against them. There won't be any "debunking" here, however, since this is a topic open to debate. I merely chose to defend the opposite route to play devil's advocate, and because I genuinely believe it.

This will be more of a rant, however, so many things will sound either obscure or swallowed within words.

Mutations in Pokémon:

Deoxys:

Ruby The DNA of a space virus underwent a sudden mutation upon exposure to a laser beam and resulted in Deoxys. The crystalline organ on this Pokémon's chest appears to be its brain.

Emerald A Pokémon that mutated from an extraterrestrial virus exposed to a laser beam. Its body is configured for superior agility and speed.

Salamence:

Ruby Salamence came about as a result of a strong, long-held dream of growing wings. It is said that this powerful desire triggered a sudden mutation in this Pokémon's cells, causing it to sprout its magnificent wings.

Emerald After many long years, its cellular structure underwent a sudden mutation to grow wings. When angered, it loses all thought and rampages out of control.

Diamond As a result of its long-held dream of flying, its cellular structure changed, and wings grew out.

Weezing:

FireRed Very rarely, a sudden mutation can result in two small Koffing twins becoming conjoined as a Weezing.

Vaporeon:

Ruby Vaporeon underwent a spontaneous mutation and grew fins and gills that allow it to live underwater. This Pokémon has the ability to freely control water.

Doduo:

FireRed A two-headed Pokémon that was discovered as a sudden mutation. It runs at a pace of over 60 miles per hour.

Eevee:

Red Its genetic code is irregular. It may mutate if it is exposed to radiation from element Stones.

Diancie?:

X A sudden transformation of Carbink, its pink, glimmering body is said to be the loveliest sight in the whole world.
