Let's talk about fan types: Part 15: Arachnid-type

1. So, what is this type all about?

The idea behind this type is to partition Bug-type into more than one group Main idea why this type exists is because of the Spider sub-archetype, as well as various Scorpion-based species that are not in Bug-type but in Bug Egg Group.

2.Where does this name come from?

The name comes from the actual animal group Arachnids.

3. Does this type have an in-game source?

Not really. Spider archetype is slowly becoming a sub-archetype, but other forms of Arachnids are not even a coherent sub-group. Currently, only relevant move is Spider Web.

4. What would be the ideas behind such a type?

Various forms of Arachnids and Arachnomorpha could be in this type. It would largely be a deviation of Bug-type though, perhaps a slightly upgraded form.

5. What would be the type interactions of such a type?

Mostly same as Bug-type, but without the Flying super-effectiveness and Grass effectiveness.

6. What would be the distribution of such a type?

Largely limited to mid-game Pokémon, as most Spiders and Scorpions in Pokémon are mid-game species besides Spinarak.

7. Future comments:

More kaiju-style arachnids, like the few seen in Monster Hunter can be added.

How to improve: 309-310: Electrike-Manectric

1.Stats: Should Manectric get a stat boost, Evolution, Mega Evolution or nothing?

Both Manectric and Electrike should have +25 BST to match Houndour and Houndoom.

Manectric should have an alternate Mega with dual typing.

Manectric definitely deserved an evolution or a middle stage, but that is out of the picture now. It needs a Physical side evo, however.

2.Should Manectric get more abilities?

Maybe? Its abilities are decent but not too important. Competitive and Strong Jaw could work.

3.Should Manectric get more moves?

Definitely, the entire reason Manectric is terrible is its lack of moves. It needs strong moves like Shadow Ball, Dazzling Gleam, Grass Knot, Dark Pulse and Nasty Plot.

4.What additional typing Manectric can have?

Dark, Fire and Normal are the only logical options, sadly.

How to improve: 633-634-365: Deino-Zweilous-Hydreigon

1.Stats: Should Hydreigon get a stat boost, Evolution, Mega Evolution or nothing?

Hydreigon literally cannot have more stats. Zweilous has different stat distribution, though, so it can get some more stats.

A Mega would be cool. A side evo would be better.

2.Should Hydreigon get more abilities?

Yes. Intimidate and Gluttony can work, so can Mega Launcher.

3.Should Hydreigon get more moves?

More Poison-type moves would be cool. Ice Beam and Thunderbolt/Thunder would be perfect. Nasty Plot is necessary.

4.What additional typing Hydreigon can have?

Flying, Water, Poison and Normal are all options. Fire, Ice and Electric can also work.

How to improve:361-362: Snorunt-Glalie

1.Stats: Should Glalie get a stat boost, Evolution, Mega Evolution or nothing?

Glalie already has a Mega, so another Mega Evolution would be what we are discussing.

A stat boost can go to at maximum of +60 BST, but given Glalie's stat distribution, these points would be either given to Attack/Sp. Atk and Speed, or be given to all of its stats.

An Evolution is impossible, due to the fact it has a Mega, and it already has a side evolution, but it would enjoy a middle evolution.

2.Should Glalie get more abilities?

Probably, but Glalie already has three Abilities. Tough Jaws would be the most sensible one, alongside Rock Head.

3.Should Glalie get more moves?

Yes, moves like Head Smash and Psychic Fangs are a must for Glalie. Special moves such as Ominous Wind, Power Gem and Moonblast would also make it very good.

4.What additional typing Glalie can have?

Dark and Rock are the obvious ones, but Fairy, Ground and Steel can also work.
